Harmon described the heartbreaking moment when she heard the gunshot while upstairs feeding her rescued pet squirrels. Her 18-year-old daughter’s horrified screams echoed through the house as she realized what had happened. According to Harmon, the Instacart worker, Christopher Anthoney Reid, showed no signs of remorse or assistance following the shooting.
“But he didn’t have a mark on him,” she said during the interview. “He didn’t have a scratch; he didn’t have torn jeans. He didn’t have puncture marks. Most importantly, he didn’t ask for help. He says he was attacked multiple times by Ollie and that he had to kick him off. But he didn’t even ask for a Band-Aid or an ambulance.”
In her interview with People, Harmon alleged that Reid callously admitted to shooting her dog, repeating the statement multiple times without displaying any emotion. She expressed disbelief at his lack of injuries or distress, questioning the necessity of resorting to lethal force against her 43-pound pet.
The actress detailed the traumatic aftermath of the incident, including rushing Oliver to the emergency vet and witnessing futile attempts to save his life. She emphasized the profound emotional toll the ordeal has taken on her and her daughters, who are undergoing therapy for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Harmon’s lawsuit, filed against both Instacart and Reid, accuses the driver of trespassing, infliction of emotional distress, and invasion of privacy, among other charges. She alleges that Reid misrepresented himself on the app by impersonating another person, using a false identity to carry out the delivery.
Reflecting on the broader implications of the incident, Harmon stressed the importance of holding Instacart and Reid accountable for their actions. She expressed a sense of urgency in raising awareness about the potential dangers associated with negligent behavior by delivery drivers, urging others to take action in similar situations.
As Harmon continues to grapple with the aftermath of the tragedy, she remains committed to seeking justice for Oliver and advocating for greater accountability within the delivery industry.
