President Joe Biden’s refusal to secure the southern border has prompted many to denounce the president for jeopardizing the lives of Americans, with a Border Patrol union recently announcing its support of Texas defying the federal government to secure the border, calling Biden’s policies “catastrophic.”
The National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) said “rank-and-file” Border Patrol agents “appreciate and respect” Texas’s refusal to bend the knee when it comes to securing the southern border, overrun by millions of illegal immigrants since Biden took office.
“TX NG and rank-and-file BP agents work together and respect each other’s jobs. Period,” the NBPC said in a statement. “If TX NG members have LAWFUL orders, then they have to carry out those orders.”
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) recently doubled down on his state’s efforts to install razor wire along the southern border to deter unlawful migration after the U.S. Supreme Court sided with the Biden administration, ruling that Border Patrol agents could cut or move through the barbed wire when deemed necessary.
Despite the High Court’s ruling, the Daily Wire revealed that Texas authorities are installing new razor wire barriers along the southern border and are barring Border Patrol agents from entering Shelby Park in Eagle Pass, Texas.

NBPC’s statement clarified that “rank-and-file” Border Patrol agents are not trying to prevent Texas National Guard troops from executing “their lawful orders.”
“TX NG members realize that rank-and-file BP agents have their orders as well,” the union said. “Lawful orders, no matter how unpopular or distasteful amongst rank-and-file agents, must be followed. Unlawful orders (as determined by competent legal counsel and now what some outhouse lawyer behind a keyboard says) will not be followed.”
The NBPC also went after the Biden administration for refusing to enact border security measures.
“Rank-and-file BP agents appreciate and respect what TX has been doing to defend their state in the midst of this catastrophe that the Biden Admin has unleashed on America,” the union’s statement read. “We want to be perfectly clear, there is no fight between rank-and-file BP agents and the TX NG, Gov. Abbott, or TX DPS. It may make flashy headlines, but it simply isn’t true.”
