Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) sent out a tweet on Sunday pointing out the reality of the radical left’s so-called “gender-affirming care” for minors — sharing a video clip of his Friday press conference while condemning the surgical mutilation of children.
The tweet came amid backlash from gender ideologues over laws passed by the Florida legislature to protect children from dangerous transgender procedures.
“It is not healthcare to cut off the private parts of a child – that is mutilation. We are standing up against that,” DeSantis tweeted on Sunday.
“When you talk to people — and I know like people in your industry will dress it up with a euphemism and they’ll say it’s healthcare to cut off the private parts of a 14- or 15-year-old — that is not health care. That is mutilation,” he said in the clip.
Amid applause from the crowd, DeSantis noted that by “standing up against that, we’re protecting these kids.”

The Republican governor went on to list examples of victims of transgender ideology who underwent these procedures as minors and now call that decision the “biggest regret of their life.”
“They feel like they were manipulated,” he explained. “I understand there’s some physicians that are very ideological about it, but the fact is people go through a lot when they’re teenagers. You grow out of it most of the time in these situations.”
DeSantis has been very vocal in his opposition to radical gender ideology for some time now and has replied to many Democrats who have attacked Florida for protecting children — including President Joe Biden.
“What’s going on in Florida is, as my mother would say, close to sinful. It’s just terrible what they’re doing,” Biden claimed during an appearance on The Daily Show, essentially arguing that it is “cruel” to protect children from transgender procedures that often leave them permanently disfigured and sterilized.
Responding to the president’s comments, DeSantis stated: “It is not ‘sinful’ to prohibit the mutilation of minors. It is not acceptable for the federal government to mandate that procedures like sex change operations be allowed for kids.”
