Ex-FBI Agent Jim Baker Joins Election Task Force, Sparking Concerns

Former FBI agent and Twitter lawyer Jim Baker, who was involved in censoring election-related content, joined the National Task Force for Election Crises just before the 2024 presidential election. Baker’s role in this task force, which aims to secure elections and prevent fraud through rapid censorship of disinformation, has raised eyebrows due to his past actions.

Baker’s biography on the task force highlights his career, including his tenure as the FBI’s general counsel and a senior role at the Justice Department. However, it omits his controversial stint at Twitter, where he was implicated in censoring information that could influence elections. Specifically, Baker was involved in the suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story during the 2020 election, a move that many critics argue helped Joe Biden’s campaign.

During a 2023 congressional hearing on the Twitter Files, Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) questioned Baker about Twitter’s censorship practices. Baker’s evasive responses, despite his significant role in the company’s censorship policy, did little to alleviate concerns about his influence.

Media Research Center (MRC) President Brent Bozell stated, “Twitter did everything they could to deliver the 2020 election to Joe Biden.” According to an MRC poll, 9.4% of Biden voters might have changed their vote had they known about the Hunter Biden scandal, potentially altering the election outcome.

Baker’s involvement with the National Task Force for Election Crises, given his history, has led to fears that he might engage in further election interference under the guise of preventing disinformation.
