FBI Agent Suspended For Refusal To Participate In ‘Politicized’ Activities

An FBI Special Agent has been stripped of his gun and badge and marched out of his field office for refusing to participate in what he said was a politicized raid on alleged misdemeanor offenders last month.

Steve Friend, a 12-year veteran of the FBI and SWAT team member, was suspended on Monday in Daytona Beach, Florida. The reason was his resistance to participate in a raid he said contradicts agency policy and violates civilians’ rights.

The 37-year-old special agent is one of 20 whistleblowers to recently come forward and describe an agency that is both politicized and practicing abusive measures.

The New York Post obtained a copy of a whistleblower complaint Friend filed with the Department of Justice inspector general. He said a number of investigations he was involved in concerning the Jan. 6 protests violated FBI protocol.

A letter was sent earlier this week from Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, to FBI Director Christopher Wray.

In this letter, it was noted that Friend was pulled off cases involving sexual victimization of children and human trafficking to work on Jan. 6 investigations forwarded from Washington. He was allegedly told that “domestic terrorism was a higher priority.”

Rep. Jordan reiterated the allegation that caseloads were being manipulated to field offices around the country to give “false and misleading crime statistics” concerning so-called “domestic terrorism.”

What was a single incident at the Capitol is purportedly being divided into numerous cases to give the appearance of “significant increases in domestic violent extremism and terrorism around the United States.”

Because of this, Jordan said the FBI is able to allege “significant increases” in threats nationwide. The agency predicted last year that these cases involving “anti-government, anti-authority violent extremists” would be the greatest domestic terrorism threats through this year.

To have a veteran FBI agent stripped of badge and gun and walked out the door because of his refusal to participate in politicized activity under the guise of law enforcement is unconscionable. Friend’s whistleblower case deserves to be heard, as does the truth of the agency’s agenda.
