Billionaire and advocate for leftist international institutions Bill Gates has reportedly given $50 million to a super PAC supporting Vice President Kamala Harris’ run for president in 2024. According to a New York Times report, the donation was made to Future Forward USA Action, the nonprofit arm associated with the Democratic super PAC Future Forward.
Although Gates hasn’t confirmed the exact donation amount, he explained his support for Harris, telling the Times, “I back candidates who are focused on improving health care, reducing poverty, and fighting climate change.” Gates stressed that this election holds unprecedented importance for Americans and the most vulnerable populations worldwide.
Melinda French Gates, his ex-wife, has also endorsed Harris, contributing an undisclosed amount to her campaign efforts.
On the opposite side of the political spectrum, Elon Musk, the richest person in the world according to Forbes, has donated $75 million in support of President Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign via America PAC.
The large donations from Gates and Musk underline the influence of the wealthiest individuals in the upcoming election, where financial support could have a major impact on the outcome.
