Kathy Griffin Threatens Civil War If Republicans Are Elected In Midterms

Controversial comedian Kathy Griffin in a tweet appears to threaten civil war if Democrats do not get elected in November, and the tweet stood for several hours.

The 61-year-old is best known for her horrific photo shoot with an image representing former President Donald Trump’s bloody severed head. Even colleagues in her industry called her out for the incredible display of bad taste, and she apologized. Sort of. And then withdrew the apology.

Her new tweet on Tuesday simply read: “If you don’t want a Civil War, vote for Democrats in November. If you do want a Civil War, vote Republican.” No word on a Twitter suspension.

Many Republicans, including Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), took offense at the “crazy Hollywood leftie’s” words. He observed that she threatened Civil War “if Dems don’t win” and called it “angry, hateful, and violent.”

This, of course, is the same person who displayed the very image of civil war in a threatening way with her bloody 2017 shot of then-President Trump.

Griffin, as she is known to do, rapidly changed her tune as criticism came pouring in. She claimed that it is Republicans who are actually threatening civil war and not her. Even with her tweet, it wasn’t her.

Some of her defenders argued that it is indeed “MAGA Republicans” who are the domestic terrorists, not those who hold severed heads and threaten civil war.

Others gave her credit for an “observation” that it is Republicans who want civil war and not Democrats. So she was merely making a peaceful political point.

The question remains. If it is truly Republicans who want civil war, why would voting for the GOP bring that about? The party in power is almost certainly never going to opt for civil war for the simple fact that they are already in power. What will civil war accomplish then?

Kathy Griffin, who apparently was a comedian at one point, is clear in her Twitter message, no matter what she and her defenders claim. Her record is clear and her intent is clear. Is Twitter listening?
