The accusations stem from a report released by Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) that highlights Cheney’s alleged misconduct during her tenure on the January 6 Committee.
According to Loudermilk, Cheney engaged in unauthorized communications with Cassidy Hutchinson, a key witness, without the involvement of Hutchinson’s legal counsel. The report asserts this behavior likely violates federal laws prohibiting witness tampering.

The report also accuses the January 6 Committee of failing to preserve critical evidence, alleging the panel omitted materials that could have cleared President Donald Trump of wrongdoing. Loudermilk claims the committee’s actions were politically motivated and intended to mislead the public.
Hutchinson’s testimony, central to the committee’s findings, is now under intense scrutiny. Loudermilk’s report claims her most dramatic allegations lacked evidence, with the committee knowingly promoting false narratives.

Cheney has dismissed the accusations, recently stating she should not face jail time. Critics argue her public denials are an attempt to deflect attention from mounting evidence of unethical behavior.
