A Massachusetts salon owner is outraged after Secret Service agents entered her business without permission during a fundraiser for Vice President Kamala Harris. Alicia Powers, the owner of the salon, recounted how the agents picked the lock to her front door, covered security cameras with duct tape, and allowed the public to use the restroom for nearly two hours without her knowledge.
Powers explained that she had agreed to close her salon for security reasons but was never informed that her property would be used in this manner. She described how multiple individuals entered the salon, setting off alarms and leaving the premises unsecured after they were done.
Following the incident, the Secret Service’s Boston office reached out to Powers to apologize. A representative admitted that the agents’ actions were improper and not in line with standard procedures. Powers recounted the conversation, stating, “He said to me everything that was done was done very wrong.”
Brian Smith, the building’s landlord, confirmed that no one had granted the Secret Service permission to access the property. The agency has since expressed regret for the incident and emphasized its commitment to working cooperatively with local businesses during high-profile events.
