The long-running CBS news magazine “60 Minutes” was hit with a coordinated social media attack in recent days over its decision to invite a sitting U.S. lawmaker for an on-air interview.
Lesley Stahl conducted the interview with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) in a segment that aired on Sunday — and even before the show was broadcast, leftists were calling for boycotts based entirely on the fact that the show might allow her to share opinions that they found objectionable.
The outspoken Georgia Republican did not disappoint, offering a bevy of pointed jabs and the Biden administration and the far-left trends that are impacting modern society.
During one particularly tense line of questioning, Stahl asked Greene to elaborate on her previous claims that pedophiles have infiltrated the Democratic Party and are influencing its agenda.
“Democrats support, even Joe Biden the president himself supports, children being sexualized and having transgender surgeries,” the congresswoman replied. “Sexualizing children is what pedophiles do.”
The interviewer was clearly flummoxed and could barely muster a response, simply stating: “Wow, OK.”
It is worth noting, however, the Stahl did not attempt to attack the merits of Greene’s argument, since there is ample evidence that the current crop of leftist politicians and activists are preoccupied with ensuring that children have access to so-called “gender-affirming care” and sexually explicit books in their school libraries.
Following the interview, even more critics shared their thoughts on social media.
Stahl interviewed Greene as if she were just another someone unusual member of Congress with some out-there ideas. Showed MTG some of her worst stuff, and MTG just waved it away, and Stahl let it all slide.

Of course, Greene has repeatedly offered similar denunciations of the left’s perceived agenda in the past, including in defense of a Florida bill banning certain sexually themed lessons from elementary school education.
When Disney spoke out in opposition of the legislation, Greene accused the company of wanting to “take your children and … indoctrinate them into sexual imooral filth.”
In another statement, she insisted that the Democratic Party’s platform involves “grooming and transitioning children, and pro-pedophile politics.”
Although her critics attempt to portray her as an extremist, multiple polls suggest many Americans share her concerns about current cultural trends.
In an American Principles Project Foundation survey conducted last year, 56% of respondents across political lines said they were opposed to laws allowing minors to undergo sex-change operations or certain other procedures.
