Musk Renews Call To Hold Fauci Accountable For Pandemic Policies

Elon Musk, a key ally of President-elect Donald Trump, has reiterated his call for legal action against Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former chief medical advisor. Musk’s post on X declared, “My pronouns are still prosecute/Fauci,” reigniting debates over Fauci’s role in managing the pandemic.

The comment came in response to criticism of Fauci’s financial gains as a government employee. With a $480,654 salary at retirement, an estimated $355,000 annual pension, and a reported net worth of $11 million, Fauci has drawn scrutiny from conservatives. Musk and others have also questioned the $15 million spent on Fauci’s security since his retirement.

Musk has consistently accused Fauci of mishandling the pandemic and supporting gain-of-function research linked to the Wuhan lab where COVID-19 is suspected to have originated. In 2022, Musk claimed Fauci “lied to Congress” and funded research that caused widespread harm — allegations Fauci has denied, calling them “absolutely false.”

Fauci faced Republican lawmakers earlier this year during a House panel investigation into COVID-19’s origins. Critics alleged he was involved in covering up a potential lab leak and questioned his role in funding risky research. Fauci strongly rejected these claims, defending his actions as based on science and public health priorities.

Musk’s stance reflects his broader critique of government pandemic policies. Since acquiring Twitter in 2022, Musk has reversed bans on discussing COVID-19’s origins, fueling public debates. He has also played a significant role in Trump’s recent presidential victory, contributing $100 million to pro-Trump efforts and leading voter registration drives.

With Musk set to play a major role in Trump’s administration, his push for accountability is expected to influence efforts to revisit the pandemic’s handling and the decisions made by Fauci and other officials.
