Nancy Pelosi Gets Booed At Music Festival

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was booed on stage as she spoke during the Global Citizen Festival on Saturday night.

The 82-year-old House Speaker was attending the gathering, which took place in New York’s Central Park, with her husband Paul when Indian actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas invited her on stage in front of the crowd of music devotees.

Shockingly, in a city where 68% of registered voters are Democrats, Pelosi received a not-so-warm welcome.

Audience members could be heard booing the Democrat leader as she began to discuss plans for Congress to battle climate issues, mentioning carbon pollution and “climate change.”

“It’s thanks to your help that the United States recently enacted historic climate legislation, which will be a game changer,” Pelosi stated as the booing continued.

“It will slash carbon pollution by 40 percent by 2030, it will give a historic, an historic $370 billion to fight the climate crisis,” she added.

The crowd continued to boo the House Speaker, growing louder as several hecklers could be heard yelling “let’s go!” in an apparent attempt to call for the actual entertainment to resume rather than having to listen to a politician drone on.

According to reporting from the New York Post, Pelosi attempted to continue her speech despite the jeers, claiming that the Democrats’ legislation would lead to “better water and air for our children” along with “better-paying jobs and lower energy bills for their parents.”

The event’s performers included Mariah Carey, Metallica, The Jonas Brothers and Usher.
Another polician, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, also spoke during the festival.
