President-elect Joe Biden, 78, recently suffered a “fractured foot” while allegedly “playing with his dog” and is still more than a month away from being inaugurated. Whether he will make it to the White House remains an open question.
Biden’s running mate, Kamala Harris, is set to become the second vice president of color in American history. Betting markets currently expect Harris to be the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee in 2024, even though Biden hasn’t explicitly pledged to retire after one term. It remains to be seen whether she will be able to subdue her notoriously ruthless ambition for four whole years.
Interestingly enough, Harris is already working to distance herself from Biden, who has been rolling out a series of cabinet choices, not all of which have been warmly received by Democratic activists. Politico reports: “One Kamala adviser said she has disagreed with some of Biden’s personnel decisions but, ‘obviously, he gets the final say.'”
The Countdown to Kamala has begun, and the timeline keeps getting shorter by the day.
