Rep. Herrell: Biden Using January 6 as a Distraction From Failing Presidency

During an appearance on Newsmax’s “Saturday Agenda,” Rep. Yvette Herrell (R-NM) called out the Biden administration for using January 6 as a distraction from real issues that the country is currently facing.

President Joe Biden and the Democrats are desperately attempting to convince the American people to look back at the events of January 6, 2021, as a way to convince them not to vote for Republicans in the upcoming midterms. As we move closer to November, the January 6 hearings are the only distraction the Democrats have left from the consequences of their failed policies.

Herrell condemned Biden for overplaying the significance of the Capitol riot and called him out for lying and gaslighting Americans by claiming that the U.S. is the “fastest-growing economy in the world — the world. The world.”

Responding to his claim, Herrell said: “Clearly, it shows how out of touch he is with the American people, who are really suffering now. This inflation is nothing but a hidden tax. Our dollars are going less and less further than they were, you know, two years ago.”

Inflation has once again reached a new four-decade high, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) — a measure for calculating inflation — rising 8.6% between May 2021 and May 2022, according to a Friday morning report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

“I think anybody you talk to right now will say they are certainly far worse off right now than they were last year, two years ago, three years ago, five years ago,” Herrell said. “And he’s doing nothing to help with bringing the costs down in terms of supplies, in terms of groceries, fuel.”

The price of fuel has skyrocketed since Biden took office, and it shows no signs of going down any time soon. On the day of his inauguration, gas cost $2.39 per gallon. This week, gas prices hit a historic high of nearly $5 per gallon, with AAA reporting that the price at the pump was at a national average of $4.97 as of Thursday afternoon.

Consequently, the price of goods has increased, as the price of transporting those goods has gone up due to the cost of fuel. All of these issues, coupled with shortages of certain products such as baby formula, have led to serious financial hardship for the average American. Yet, the Democrats are focusing their attention on January 6 — possibly because they know the American people are angry, and they are desperate to find some way to distract them.

“There are so many things he could take the lead on, but he refuses to, so they used the Jan. 6 issue and other things as distractions,” Herrell concluded.
