Schumer Battles CNN Hosts Over Biden Classified Documents Controversy

Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) went toe-to-toe with multiple CNN hosts last week over the growing scandal concerning President Joe Biden’s possession of classified documents.

The double standard given to the Biden presidency is so outrageous that even CNN is having a tough time justifying it.

Appearing Friday on “CNN This Morning,” Schumer asserted that it is still “too early” to know if the president violated federal law. Instead, he praised Biden for the way the administration has dealt with the controversy.

Schumer, of course, did not miss the opportunity to rail against former President Donald Trump. He asserted that Biden’s actions contrast with the former president’s, “who stonewalled for a whole year.”

The irony was so apparent that CNN’s Don Lemon found it necessary to call out Schumer for his position. The host noted reports that the White House issued “misleading statements” that led many to believe that the president “has something to hide.”

Lemon added that, in that regard, it “doesn’t sound that much different than the former president.”

CNN’s Poppy Harlow further questioned if Biden was being “transparent,” a point raised by her network’s reporters earlier in the week. Schumer retorted that “prosecutors will get to the bottom of this and let’s let them do it, for God’s sake.”

The overriding concern for the White House must be that even CNN and many Democratic supporters see the hypocrisy in the classified materials scandal. More classified documents have now been found at Biden’s Delaware residence, and the reaction was swift.

CBS News reported that White House staffers, Biden administration officials, and Democratic Party officials are worried by the response from the top. One anonymous high-ranking Democrat told the network that “they’re trying to put lipstick on a pig.”

A party official complained that the story was not revealed much earlier and that it is only coming out in pieces.

And Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) told MSNBC that Biden has to be unhappy with the way the scandal has unfolded. She acknowledged that she had not spoken to the president before adding “who would be happy about this?”

When fellow Democrats and the compliant mainstream media raise questions, it is obvious that the controversy swirling around the White House is not going away. If nothing else, it clearly demonstrates the political persecution of the former president for similar infractions.
