Teamsters Poll Shows Trump Leading Harris In Member Support For 2024

Recent polling from the Teamsters union shows President Donald Trump leading Kamala Harris by a wide margin among union members. This internal polling could signal a significant shift in political support, as labor unions have traditionally leaned Democratic.

The Teamsters Electronic Member Poll, conducted from July 24 to September 15, found that Trump received 59.6% of the vote, while Harris lagged behind at 34%. Another 6.4% of respondents expressed interest in other candidates. The Teamsters Research Phone Poll, conducted from September 9 to 15, showed similar results, with Trump capturing 58% support, Harris at 31%, and 6% undecided. Additionally, 5% of respondents were unsure.

This marks a notable change from the union’s historical voting patterns, which have typically favored Democratic candidates. Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien emphasized the importance of member input in the union’s decision-making process. “Our members are the union, and their voices and opinions must be at the forefront of everything the Teamsters do,” O’Brien said.

The Teamsters union has not yet endorsed any candidate for the 2024 election, but O’Brien suggested that the union’s General Executive Board is expected to make a decision soon. With Trump securing the majority of support among union members, this could have broader implications for his campaign.

As the union prepares to announce its decision, the results of these polls indicate that Trump may be gaining ground in a voting bloc that has traditionally aligned with Democratic candidates.
