The U.S. Army has indefinitely suspended a retired three-star general from his consulting position after he dared to mock First Lady Jill Biden’s post regarding the recent Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
On June 24, the Supreme Court ruled in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which concerned a Mississippi law banning abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy. The decision ultimately overturned Roe v. Wade, returning the issue of abortion to the states.
In response to this ruling, Democrats and pro-abortion activists were outraged, claiming that “women’s rights” were being violated. Among the women who were angered was the first lady, who sent out a tweet on the day of the decision ranting about the “injustice.”
“For nearly 50 years, women have had the right to make our own decisions about our bodies. Today, that right was stolen from us,” Biden tweeted. “And while we may be devastated by this injustice, we will not be silent. We will not sit back as the progress we have already won slips away.”
For nearly 50 years, women have had the right to make our own decisions about our bodies.
Today, that right was stolen from us.
And while we may be devastated by this injustice, we will not be silent. We will not sit back as the progress we have already won slips away.

After replying to her tweet, Lt. Gen. Gary Volesky, who was “advising senior military officers, staff and students participating in war games and other military activities,” has been suspended without pay from his $92 an hour contract pending the results of an investigation, according to USA Today.
“Glad to see you finally know what a woman is,” Volesky mocked the first lady in his reply tweet.
Prominent Democrats, including those within the White House, have been hammered by critics for advocating for policies that differentiate between men and women based on so-called “gender identity,” rather than biological sex.
A common question asked by conservatives to members of the left is “what is a woman?” Many of them do not have an answer for that simple question, because their radical gender ideology does not allow them to give an answer other than “someone who feels like a woman.” Now that the issue of abortion has become a huge talking point for the left once again, conservatives have begun pointing out that Democrats have all of a sudden discovered the definition of a woman once again, which is likely what Volesky was pointing to in his tweet.
An Army spokeswoman confirmed with USA Today that Volesky was suspended by the commander of the Combined Arms Center, Lt. Gen. Theodore Martin.
The retired three-star general’s fate will ultimately be decided by an investigation into his reply tweet.
This isn’t his first time tweeting something “controversial” by left-wing standards. Volesky, who boasts a Silver Star, has tweeted in the past that the House Select Committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot “is all about partisan politics,” according to reporting by Axios.
