Tom Homan Calls For 100,000 Beds To Support Trump’s Deportation Plans

President-elect Donald Trump’s incoming border czar, Tom Homan, announced plans Wednesday to request 100,000 beds and substantial funding from Congress to support a large-scale deportation operation. Homan, the former acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), outlined his vision during an interview with CNN.

“We need Congress to give us some money to get this done,” Homan stated, explaining that the scale of the operation will depend on available resources. He said ICE offices across the nation would begin enforcement actions immediately upon Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20.

Homan emphasized the need for congressional support to expand detention capacity and secure transportation contracts. “The more deportation officers I have, the more migrants we can detain and deport,” he said, estimating the operation could cost at least $86 billion.

The plan includes using military aircraft to return migrants to their home countries but stops short of involving the military in arrests. Homan highlighted the need for efficiency, noting that the operation would aim to arrest as many individuals as possible who are in the country illegally.

Trump has vowed to carry out the largest deportation operation in U.S. history and has threatened economic retaliation against countries that refuse to accept deportees. Homan argued the plan aligns with the will of the voters who supported Trump’s immigration policies.

Homan’s remarks follow years of congressional hearings on immigration enforcement, where he has been a vocal critic of policies under the Biden administration.
