Trump Declines To Include Haley And Pompeo In Second Administration

President-elect Donald Trump announced Saturday that former Cabinet officials Nikki Haley and Mike Pompeo will not have roles in his upcoming administration. The announcement signals a break from two figures who played significant roles during Trump’s first term.

Trump revealed his decision on Truth Social, thanking both Haley and Pompeo for their previous service. “I will not be inviting former Ambassador Nikki Haley, or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, to join the Trump Administration,” he wrote. “I very much enjoyed and appreciated working with them previously, and would like to thank them for their service to our Country.”

Haley responded on X, offering her well wishes for Trump’s next term. “I was proud to work with President Trump defending America at the United Nations,” she posted. “I wish him, and all who serve, great success in moving us forward to a stronger, safer America over the next four years.”

The decision comes as Trump begins shaping his new Cabinet to reflect his priorities for his second term. While Haley and Pompeo were key figures during Trump’s first term, their exclusion suggests Trump’s intention to bring in fresh perspectives and avoid potential political distractions.

Both Haley and Pompeo have pursued their own political goals since leaving the administration. Haley ran against Trump in the 2024 Republican primaries, and Pompeo has often been mentioned as a potential future candidate for higher office.

By signaling a clean slate for his next term, Trump aims to build a team that aligns fully with his vision and strategy. Supporters view this as a step toward ensuring his administration remains focused and cohesive as he prepares for another four years in office.
