A radical leftist delegate from the Virgin Islands has threatened to jail Matt Taibbi, one of the leading “Twitter Files” journalists, over a typo in his reporting.
The House should censure non-voting Delegate Stacey Plaskett for despotically threatening Matt Taibbi with prison. Her oath is to uphold the Constitution.
Threatening journalists with prison due to anger over their reporting seems inconsistent with that.

Taibbi, a former Rolling Stone journalist, was one of several independent journalists selected by Twitter CEO Elon Musk to analyze documents and communications from Twitter’s previous management and report on the contents. Much of this data, which was exposed to the public in several tweet threads from various “Twitter Files” journalists, revealed the corruption and left-wing bias under Twitter’s previous leadership — as well as their collusion with the federal government and left-wing groups to censor conservatives and other critics of the establishment. Taibbi also recently testified before Congress about the “Twitter Files” revelations.
Stacey Plaskett (D-V.I.), who serves as a congressional delegate from the U.S. Virgin Islands, has become a favorite of the radical left in recent months.
In a recent letter to independent journalist Matt Taibbi, Plaskett proved just how far left she is by expressing her desire to jail dissidents for the simplest mistakes.
One of Taibbi’s articles contains a small typo — he used the acronym CISA in reference to the Center for Internet Freedom (CIS), but CISA is actually the official acronym for the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency.
Despite the fact that the typo was clearly a mistake and not malicious in any way, Plaskett is harassing Taibbi with false accusations that he lied about a government agency.
“This mistake is important because, by adding an ‘A,’ you weren’t making a harmless spelling error,” she wrote. “Rather, you were alleging that CISA — a government entity — was working with the EIP [Election Integrity Partnership] to have posts removed from social media.”
“When presented with this misinformation, you acknowledged you had made ‘an error’ by intentionally altering the acronym CIS and you subsequently deleted your erroneous tweet,” Plaskett added, without providing any evidence to back up her claim that Taibbi’s typo was “intentional.”
She then went much further than just making false claims about Taibbi’s motives — declaring that he may have committed perjury because of this mistake. Plaskett cited Taibbi’s congressional testimony from March 9, where he acknowledged that “knowingly providing material false information to this committee/subcommittee or knowingly concealing material information from this committee/subcommittee, is a crime (18 U.S.C. 1001).”
“Under the federal perjury statute, 18 U.S.C. 1621, proving false information is punishable by up to five years’ imprisonment,” the radical leftist delegate threatened.

This isn’t the first time that Taibbi has been targeted by members of the federal government for his reporting. On the day of his congressional testimony, President Joe Biden’s IRS made an unannounced visit to Taibbi’s house claiming that his 2018 and 2021 tax returns had been rejected because of identity theft concerns.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) called for answers from the Biden administration about the suspicious visit, stating that the “IRS’s action could be interpreted as an attempt to intimidate a witness before Congress.”
