New reports have revealed that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) approved the release of the infamous ‘Hunter Biden’s laptop is actually Russian disinformation’ letter, which ultimately proved to be an utter hoax.
Fox News reported that the CIA gave former acting director Michael Morell the greenlight to share a since-disproven letter that falsely claimed a laptop previously belonging to Hunter Biden was fake, and that any suggestions to the contrary stem from a Russian plot.
“The board determined it contains no classified information and can be published,” read the CIA response to Morell. “Agency approval for publication of this material does not represent Agency endorsement or verification of this work.”
Morell, who wrote the fraudulent letter, told the other 51 former intelligence officials who signed that he would “clear the statement with the Publication Review Board at CIA” in record time the next day, according to The New York Post.
An Oct. 18, 2020, email covered by The Post revealed that Morrell urged former CIA Directors John Brennan, Leon Panetta and Mike Hayden to sponsor the letter with their names, claiming that former CIA agent Marc Polymeropoulos along with himself had created the writeup because they “believe the Russians were involved in some way in the Hunter Biden email issue” and are also concerned that “Trump will attack Biden on the issue at this week’s debate,” adding that they want to provide Biden with “a talking point to use in response.”
Just The News’ John Solomon spoke about the email’s contents, noting that it came just before a presidential debate between Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.
He accused the letter’s pushers of engaging in “a political dirty trick coordinated with the Biden campaign.”

Morell was initially asked to produce the writeup by then-Biden campaign advisor Antony Blinken, who currently serves as Secretary of State, with The Post reporting that a phone call took place on Oct. 17, 2020, to discuss the Hunter Biden laptop report and its ensuing controversy.
In sworn testimony, Morrell charged that he did not plan to write the letter until Blinken had requested he do so, according to the report.
