Anti-gun Chicago officials filed a predictable lawsuit on Tuesday against weapons manufacturer Glock. The city claimed that the company is liable for criminals utilizing a so-called “Glock switch” to convert semi-automatic weapons to fully automatic.
Teaming up with the Windy City is Everytown for Gun Safety, an organization opposed to gun rights that is also affiliated with Mike Bloomberg.
Democratic Mayor Brandon Johnson’s office issued a press release declaring that police officers confiscated more than 1,100 illegally modified Glock handguns in the past two years.
The writing stated that these “illegal machine guns” were used in homicides, violent attacks, batteries, kidnappings, burglaries, home invasions, carjackings and attempted robberies.
The city, of course, continued its steady stream of blaming guns for the violent acts of criminals who should not be on the streets. Mayor Brandon Johnson admitted as much in the press conference announcing the suit.
The Democrat said the city “is encountering a deadly new frontier in the gun violence plaguing our communities because of the increase of fully automatic Glocks on our streets.”

Nary a mention of the perpetrators of this violence, only fear mongering over inanimate objects.
Plaintiffs charge that the handguns are convertible with a small and inexpensive device. These may be purchased — illegally — for about $20 online.
They may also be created at home using a 3D printer.
The Chicago lawsuit asserted the venerable weapons company is guilty of “aiding and abetting” violations of federal and state statutes. The city asked for a court order prohibiting the sale of the weapons in Chicago along with unspecified damages.
The pattern of city leaders, and indeed the state of Illinois, is as predictable as it is foolhardy. Violent criminals are quickly released in the misguided pursuit of “justice” while blame is laid at the feet of firearms that are protected by the Second Amendment.
Instead of increasing support for law enforcement and toughening the judicial system to lock violators away, officials look to score easy points by attacking the weapons industry. This hardly addressed the issue and only served to appeal to the bases of gun control advocates.
