Texas Investigating Children’s Hospital For Potentially ‘Illegal’ Trans Procedures

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) has launched an investigation into the Dell Children’s Medical Center after a shocking video was unearthed of the facility’s staff talking about giving children as young as eight years old “transgender” treatments.

On Friday, the Republican attorney general issued a Request to Examine to the non-profit hospital located in Austin, Texas, as part of an effort to ensure that they are complying with Texas law — which has labeled most gender transition procedures for minors as child abuse.

Paxton also issued a press release about the investigation — arguing that medical professionals who participate in these dangerous transgender treatments for minors who cannot properly consent are essentially sacrificing the children’s health in service of a “fad.”

“It is now alarmingly common for fringe activists to use their positions in medicine and health care to force experimental, life-altering procedures onto children,” the press release stated. “Across the country, there are doctors and health care professionals who appear willing to sacrifice the long-term health of American children, all in service to the increasingly dangerous fad of ‘transgender’ extremism. It is deeply disturbing, and there is no place for it in Texas. Along these lines, there have been a number of recent reports about potentially illegal activity at Dell Children’s Medical Center, and this investigation aims to uncover the truth.”

Paxton has given Dell Children’s Medical Center a deadline of May 30 to hand over documents about the ages of patients that are receiving “Gender Transitioning and Gender Reassignment” procedures — as well as treatments and counseling. He is also requesting that they provide information about how many times a patient is seen before being given these treatments, the length of the patients’ counseling sessions, any complaints they have received and other related documents.

The Texas attorney general’s investigation comes after Project Veritas published an undercover video last month during which a social worker at Dell Children’s Medical Center can be heard saying: “We do have patients starting as young as 8, 9 [years old]. So we do have folks on the younger side.”

The social worker also reportedly claimed that it may be appropriate to prescribe puberty blockers “after one” session — a dangerous drug that can have lasting effects on children’s bodies.

“It’s not something that we want to gatekeep and require someone to, you know, come see us ten times before it’s prescribed,” the social worker said in the video, adding that children will have to see a gender-affirming therapist if they want to go through with formal transgender surgeries — but otherwise, they are not required to do so.

Dell Children’s Medical Center has responded to the investigation, claiming in a statement that it “prohibits surgery and prescribing hormone therapy, including puberty blockers, for the treatment of gender dysphoria in children and adolescents.”
