Following a blatantly political ruling from the Colorado Supreme Court to bar former President Donald Trump from appearing on The Centennial State’s ballot in 2024, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy urged his fellow GOP primary contenders to withdraw from Colorado’s ballot — a suggestion Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) won’t follow.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, Ramaswamy reacted to the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision, pledging to withdraw from the state’s ballot, demanding that those running to obtain the GOP’s presidential nomination take the same action as him. Nonetheless, it appears that Ramaswamy’s idea has fallen on deaf ears.
During a recent appearance on Newsmax, DeSantis was asked whether he would follow Ramaswamy’s advice and withdraw from The Centennial State’s ballot in 2024. In response, the Florida governor said he would not follow the entrepreneur’s lead, arguing that such a move would be “playing into the left.”
“No, I think that’s just playing into the left. I think the case will get overturned by the Supreme Court, but I’ve qualified for all the ballots. I’m competing in all the states, and I’m going to accumulate the delegates necessary. That’s the whole name of the game in this situation, but I do anticipate that decision was political and will get reversed,” DeSantis said.

On Dec. 19, 2023, the Colorado Supreme Court decided to disenfranchise the votes of those in the state, ruling in a 4-3 vote that Trump should be removed from the state’s ballot because he had engaged in so-called “insurrection” on Jan. 6, 2021.
The court’s decision will remain in effect until Jan. 4, 2024, considering that appeals will likely follow.
In a statement, Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung revealed the former president’s intention to appeal the Colorado Supreme Court’s ruling to the U.S. Supreme Court.
“The Colorado Supreme Court issued a completely flawed decision tonight and we will swiftly file an appeal to the United States Supreme Court and a concurrent request for a stay of this deeply undemocratic decision. We have full confidence that the U.S. Supreme Court will quickly rule in our favor and finally put an end to these UnAmerican lawsuits,” Cheung wrote.
