A pizzeria worker in Manhattan was severely injured after being attacked by an unleashed pit bull outside Roma Pizza on Fifth Avenue Monday night. The terrifying incident unfolded after the worker told Tyshaun Watson, the dog’s owner, to take the animal outside, prompting a violent confrontation.
According to witnesses, Watson became irate and stepped behind the counter to assault the worker. The fight then moved onto the street, where the unleashed pit bull attacked. A co-worker recounted the chaos: “The dog was on him, biting him. Watson stomped on him, hit him on his head, and he went unconscious.”
The attack was so brutal that Watson allegedly stopped only because he believed the worker was dead. Witnesses overheard Watson scolding his dog afterward, saying it wouldn’t be fed because it didn’t “finish the job.” He then re-entered the pizzeria and waited calmly for police.
Other employees quickly exited the restaurant through the back and locked the doors from the outside to trap Watson inside. Police arrived shortly after and arrested Watson, who appeared to have a bite wound on his arm from his own dog.
The victim was rushed to a hospital in critical condition but is expected to recover. Authorities have since taken the pit bull into custody. The fate of the dog remains uncertain as investigators determine the next steps. Watson faces attempted murder charges for the vicious assault, and further charges may be pending as the case unfolds.
