FEMA Offers Disaster Aid To Illegal Migrants In North Carolina, Raising Concerns

A report from the Washington Post reveals that the federal government, through FEMA, is offering disaster aid to illegal migrants in North Carolina who were impacted by Hurricane Helene. This aid, typically reserved for U.S. citizens, is being extended to migrants, prompting debate over the use of taxpayer dollars on illegal invaders while Americans suffer.

According to the report, some migrants have applied for assistance through FEMA’s programs, including a $750 disaster grant known as “Serious Needs Assistance.” Silvia Martín del Campo, who works with Latino students at a local community college, noted that while these individuals are in the U.S. illegally, many operate businesses and pay taxes, making them eligible for aid.

Critics argue that this disaster relief should be directed to American citizens who have lost homes, jobs, and property. The report highlights concerns that the federal government’s policies blur the lines between American citizens and migrants, with some suggesting that this type of aid encourages illegal immigration.

The Biden administration has faced increasing scrutiny for its handling of border security and immigration. Since 2021, roughly $1 billion from FEMA’s budget has been used to help illegal migrants, further fueling the debate over how federal funds are allocated. Some argue that this assistance helps migrants stay in the country illegally rather than returning to their home nations.

Mark Krikorian, from the Center for Immigration Studies, suggested that a more effective use of these funds would be to help migrants return to their home countries, easing competition for jobs and resources in the U.S.
