Trump Gains Ground In Michigan And Wisconsin, Harris Struggles To Keep Up

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is surging ahead in the critical battleground states of Michigan and Wisconsin, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll. Released Wednesday, the poll shows Trump leading in both states and closing the gap in Pennsylvania as his campaign picks up momentum ahead of the 2024 election.

In Michigan, Trump now holds 50% of the vote compared to Vice President Kamala Harris’ 47%, a three-point increase since the last poll. In Wisconsin, Trump is also ahead, with 48% of support to Harris’ 46%. The poll shows a tighter race in Pennsylvania, where Harris leads by a slim margin of 49% to Trump’s 46%.

The poll also revealed that voters believe Trump would do a better job than Harris on several key issues, including the economy, immigration and crisis management. In Michigan, 54% of voters said Trump would handle the economy better, compared to 45% for Harris. Similar results were found in Wisconsin, where Trump led Harris 53% to 44% on economic issues.

Harris’ recent debate performance appears to have failed to boost her campaign, with no noticeable post-debate surge in support. Meanwhile, Trump continues to gain ground, particularly on issues that resonate with voters in the battleground states.

The poll also highlights declining enthusiasm for Harris, with Democratic mail-in voting dropping in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. As Trump builds momentum, Harris faces an uphill battle to regain her footing in these key states.
